Restoration 2012 Conference in Port Elizabeth, South Africa

Every year not only members of the house, but the body of Christ at large wait in anticipation for the annual Restoration meeting hosted by Victory Ministries International. There is always a fresh word to push God’s people to the next level.

Sunday, 25 March 2012 was no exception as young and old made their way to the New Worship Auditorium on the corner of Standford Road and the N2. The annual four-day conference was held in the New Worship Auditorium for the first time. An hour before the start of the service the main auditorium was already filled to capacity. Within a short space of time the adjacent hall was also overflowing with the result that some people had to be turned away as they could not be accommodated.

One can understand the zeal amongst the body of Christ as this event is graced by prominent international speakers. Since 2000 gifted international speakers such as Dr Creflo Dollar, Pastor Michael Pitts, Dr Mensa Otabil, Dr Pat Francis, Bishop Tudor Bismark, Pastor Tommy Tenney and Prophet Ed Traut have graced the podium at Restoration Conferences. It was at the Restoration 2010 conference that Apostle John Eckhardt blessed the pastoral couple and the Church with a prophetic message of a new vision, new building, new anointing, new birth and a new rod.

On opening night Pastor Jerome Liberty said that “we are finally home”. The audience responded with applause and shouts of joy. This year the keynote speakers at Restoration 2012 were US church leaders, Bishop Harry Jackson of Hope Christian Church in Washington DC, and Dr Walter Henderson of the Berean Family Worship Center, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They encouraged the VMI family with teachings on the importance of prophecy and the God of the impossible. The audiovisual presentations during the dance, drama and worship were excellent as usual. One of the video clips reinforced VMI’s mission of reaching out to communities that are ravaged by poverty, gangsterism and addiction with a message that “in Christ you are destined to be people of destiny and significance”.

Bishop Harry Jackson, who is a highly respected man in the US, but also the spiritual father of Pastors Jerome and Eunice Liberty, and the rest of the Victory family, chartered the course for the Church with "The new Road to Destiny". His words were: “God is shaking the things that can be shaken and establishing that which has to be established.” According to Jackson, God is looking for men of faith to become part of a corporate nation that shakes the nation.

Bishop Harry Jackson told the audience that it was “time to take off!” 1 Corinthians 16:9 says “For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.” God knows our shortcomings and He is going to release to us a new level. Jackson urged everyone not to see themselves as a church, but as a new movement that’s going to the next level. “God wants to bless you with a new anointing,” he said.

The word preached was not only for our pastors, but for the corporate body of Christ. God's word is about to be fulfilled in the lives of those who contribute in whatever way in the advancement of the Kingdom, those who are faithful. The Church is coming into a new life with God.

This message comes at an appropriate time when Pastor Jerome has just released his new book, "Leadership Lessons from the life of Peter", a book which challenges one's thinking on leadership and stimulates leaders to embrace the extraordinary, the unusual and eventually the confidence to “get out of the boat and to walk on water.”

Dr Walter Henderson, from the Berean Family Worship Center, Milwaukee, had two encouraging words:  “True repentance causes recapitulation and the impossible is possible with God”.

True to the words spoken, Restoration 2012 came with a new vibe and a freshness of its own. The worship team, drama and dance teams put up electric performances that could only have come from true worship and the love for our Lord. They were truly in tune with Bishop Jackson's statement: “God wants you to be in a place where your heart is truly set on Him.”

Addressing the crowd on the final night of Restoration 2012, Pastor Jerome Liberty said that in the natural, it was supposed to take until 2023 for the church to complete the construction of the new auditorium, but it was achieved within 18 months. Restoration 2012 sets a springboard for the official opening of the auditorium in October 2012. Then the seating capacity of the building will have increased and the finishing touches added.

Comments from conference-goers

We had many sending comments after the opening ceremony:

  • Marvel Marv Malotana: “Super awesome!”
  • Felile Makhele: “Oh, what an opening! I liked the fact that we had our own entertainment no need to go out to invite any artist. Well done to the dancers. The worship team made me so proud…”
  • Felile Makhele: “You know Moruti always teaches us about giving. The amazing part is that he always practice what he preaches .God bless Moruti Jerome. He is a great man of God.”
  • Desiree Liberty: “What a mind-blowing message from Bishop Harry Jackson! It is only the beginning and we should not be lax now because we have not arrived yet. Greater things are coming. This is but a drop in the ocean. PE is still going to see the full glory of God and will acknowledge Him in His entirety when His plan completely comes into fulfillment through the ministry of VMI and the visionary couple pastors Jerome and Eunice Liberty. Planning was excellent; the spirit of excellence was evident. Totally magnificent!”
  • Elandra Schovell: “The evening was excellent. The play was world class.”
  • Sipokazi Somzana: “Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial… God is great!
  • Fezeka Magavu: “Awesome. Powerful. Out of this world!”

Halala, Pastor Jerome and Eunice Liberty! Keep on keeping on! It takes a man of gumption and a woman of tremendous faith to reach for the heights you are aspiring for.

May God continue to use you and to bless you!
